CHARMBURY. Daniel Charmbury married Elizabeth Young 1781 Blandford Forum. I have traced Daniel to Biddestone in Wiltshire, but no real proof other than that he had a brother, William (will). Betty was a victualler who owned the White Horse Inn in Biddestone. She bequeathed it to her eldest son, Daniel in her 1789 will. Both of the parents were dead by 1780 and this is about the time Daniel shows up in Blandford Forum. He became a wealthy builder. Children of Daniel and Elizabeth Charmbury:- Ellen and Elizabeth 1783, Daniel 1785, Sarah 1786, Ann 1788. (Ellen married Thomas Lacy 1804. Elizabeth married John Howard 1809. Children:- Mary Elizabeth 1818, Jane 1820, Ann 1822, Robert Young 1823. (Mary Elizabeth married Robert Kenyon 1842 London. Jane married William Henry Moore 1850 London. Robert Young Charmbury immigrated to New Orleans, USA where he made his fortune and remained a bachelor. His sisters contested his will after he died in 1879. Robert had bequeathed his estate to the City of Poole in order to build a place for the poor. The sisters won! Ann Charmbury married Edward Billows 1841 Blandford Forum (Refer to Billows surname).

YERBURY. I am just beginning a search for my maternal grandfather's people in Somerset. The only info I have is based on the census records for 1841-1891. My grandfather was Herbert YERBURY b. Frome 1879. His father was Henry Yerbury b. Frome, 1852 and his mother, Louisa CARPENTER, b. Midsomer Norton 1851. The parents of Henry Yerbury were George Yerbury b. Frome 1818 and Ann GERRETT b. Frome 1820. Family lore says the Yerbury's have been in the Frome area from the 1600's. Census records indicate that the head of the family was always a shoemaker, and some of the children shoemaker's apprentices!. Any info on the shoemaking Yerbury's of Frome would be appreciated.
