TOUT. Trying to find information on the Touts of Bath area. Thomas Tout, was born, according to the 1851 census, in Bath circa 1790, he had settled in London by 1815. Have searched the Bath parishes I have not been able to find a baptism record for him but some of the Bath records are in a very poor state. Thomas Tout had a sister Elizabeth Tout who married a widower John Day of Norton St Philip in Bath in the early 1800s. There was a William Tout in the Bath area at the time, it is possible he is related. There is no clue to the parentage of Thomas and Elizabeth. It is thought within the family that the Tout family originated in the Taunton or Bridgwater area.

Charles (B. 25/6/1864)
Albert (B. 28/2/1866 - 19/7/1938)

GREENLAND. Would be very grateful for assistance with GREENLAND family. I'm looking for information on Greenlands in the Bath/Clutton area. My ancestors include John Udall Greenland - born in or near Bath 1836.

Married Susannah Guppy (born Guernsey 1839, residing in Wayford in 1851). Lived in Chelsea and died there in 1902. May be related to James Greenland born Clutton 1831 - became Methodist minister in 1856 - died 1914. Can anyone shed light on the significance of 'Udall' - crops up a number of times in my line of Greenlands during the 1800s. Extremely grateful for any help!!!

HOUSE. My Grandfather was a Thomas Arthur House (b. 12/11/1896 St Geo. Hanover Sq Westminster) who's parents were a William Sidney House (b. 1869 Wells Somerset) and Alma Ada Wilhelmina House (formerly Gale - b. 1877 Salisbury). William was the son of Joseph House (b. Mar 1849 Bradford Somerset) and Caroline House (formerly Weygood b. abt 1850 Bristol). He also had two sisters called Rosa Jane House (b. Dec 1876 Wellington) and Mary House (b. Sept 1880 Wellington).
It would appear that William and Alma left the Somerset area before marrying Mar 1896 St Geo. Hanover Sq. and were living in Westminster when my Grandfather and his sister, Lily Alma House (b. Dec 1900 ) were born. My Grandfather went on to serve in the First World War with the Royal Field Artillery (Regimental No. L/20079).
On 29/11/1940 he was tragically killed as a result of enemy action in Erith Kent. He was an ARP Ambulance Driver, aged 44 yrs and is Commemorated in Perpetuity by The Commonwealth War Graves Commission Civilian Deaths due to War Operations. He was at that time married to my Grandmother, Flora McAlister Campbell House, living in Belvedere, Kent. My Mother, Valerie Jeanette House, who was the adopted daughter of Thomas and Flora, was a wartime evacuee in Devon at the time of his death, aged 7 yrs.
My Grandfather was understood to have been very fond of my Mother and she still refers to him as "Daddy" to this day. My Grandmother remarried after the War and unfortunately my Mother lost all connections with the House relatives.
She believes that his sister Lily had moved to the Somerset area. My Mother has no photographs of her adopted father to remember him by.
I therefore seek help in locating any living House relatives from the Somerset area who may be able to provide some additional information for me.
