MONUMENTAL INSCRIPTIONS PROJECT

Every July the group undertakes the recording of the Monumental Inscriptions in one of our South Dorset Churchyards. The date and location for 2002 has not yet been decided but watch this space for details! We usually find a churchyard near a pub which serves good food! This day is always highly enjoyable so why not consider joining us this year! We are also looking for a volunteer to organise and coordinate our Monumental Inscription Project. 1841 CENSUS TRANSCRIPTION PROJECT

Our group is also contributing to a Society project to index the whole of the Dorset 1841 Census. We have already transcribed Weymouth town, Dorchester and Portland, but further help is required to the rural parishes of South Dorset from 35mm microfilm. If you would like to help with transcription at the Dorset Record Office or computer input (which can be done at home), please contact Phil Sherwood
