Hackney Archives is re-opening its public searchroom

The North Devon RO in Barnstaple will be closed during the same period as the Devon Record Office in Exeter: two weeks from 6th - 19th February 2012 inclusive The North Devon Local Studies Centre will also close for this period. This will allow staff to make some changes to the reading room layout, necessitated by a reduction in staffing levels there.

PLEASE NOTE that from 1 April 2012 the Devon Record Office in Exeter will be closed on Mondays and the North Devon Record Office in Barnstaple will be closed on Wednesdays.

The infirmity column details wide-ranging descriptions of peoples’ health conditions as perceived and hand-written by the head of the household on the night of Sunday 2 April 1911. Under data protection regulations, this sensitive information has remained closed until now.

The GRO number is changing to 0300 123 1837.
